Bluetooth technology and definitions

Bluetooth technology has quickly gone from being a “feature” of select mobile communication devices to being the nr1 defining attribute when talking about Mobile communication. Some consumers still opt for the wired headsets, but the vast majority are using bluetooth earbuds with their cellphones.

We are now also seeing a rapid expansion of stereo bluetooth devices that combine the mobiity and quick connectivity between phone and user, while also supplying quality audio for music listening.

Stereo headsets come in various types and sizes. While all are more bulky than a lightweight mono earbud, the ear-covering headpieces permit the added advantage of noise cancellation. We predict noise cancelling bluetooth headsets will grow rapidly in popylarity as they are very effective.

Is Bluetooth a new technology? No, it was developed in 1994 by Jaap Haartsen and Sven Mattisson at Ericsson and Apple has supplied bluetooth functionality since 2002.
